Terms of use
Last updated 6 November 2026
These terms apply to the Parla website and to the Parla iOS app while it is in beta. By joining the waitlist or installing the app you agree to them. They are short on purpose.
What Parla is
Parla is a language-learning app in which an AI tutor, Giulia, talks with you in Italian and corrects you. Giulia is software. She is good, but she can make mistakes: a correction may occasionally be wrong, an explanation incomplete, or a pronunciation score off. Treat her like a patient friend, not an examiner. Parla is not a substitute for a certified language course or an official exam.
Beta software
During the TestFlight beta the app is free and provided as is. Features may change, break or be removed, and we may reset data between builds. Apple's TestFlight terms also apply. We will email you before any paid plan is introduced, and you will never be charged without choosing a plan yourself.
Using it fairly
- Use Parla for learning. Do not try to extract the underlying models, overload the service or interfere with other people's use.
- Do not say things to Giulia that would be unlawful to say to a person, or feed the service content you do not have the right to share.
- You must be 13 or older to use Parla.
Your content
What you say to Giulia is yours. You give us permission to process it, including through OpenAI, to run the conversation and show your corrections, as described in the privacy policy. We do not use your conversations for advertising.
Our content
Giulia, the Parla name, the app's design and its lesson content belong to Parla. You may use them within the app for your own learning. Screenshots and recordings for personal sharing or reviews are welcome.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Parla is not liable for indirect losses arising from using or being unable to use Parla, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the past twelve months, which during the beta is nothing. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.
Ending things
You can stop using Parla at any time by deleting the app and asking us to remove your waitlist entry. We may suspend access if these terms are broken.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version and we will tell you about material changes. Questions go to hello@parla.app.
